Well, WordCamp Sydney was great! two days of great networking with WordPress developers and a bunch of informative presentations.
I made the trek up with Rob Jennings, of Explainafide, and met a bunch of lovely and highly talented folk along the way.
- I had my name drawn out of the hat for the major prize: a managed VPS from Anchor Hosting worth over $2000!! It comes at a great time – I’ve been looking to upgrade my offering for a while!
- AND – I won WordPress Jeopardy! Fun and games on Sunday – we all needed a gentle start :) I scored 5 licenses for the awesome WP-Touch Pro from Brave New Code. Thanks!
A great talk on managing client expectations and finances for the freelancer. The most practical takeaways from the weekend, thanks Troy Dean. Its worth finding his talk from WordCamp Brisbane, too.
A great overview of the inner workings of the web, in particular how Nginx serves pages compared to Apache, by Jeff Waugh.
